Accidents happened anytime and it usually happens when you least expect it.
When I was about nine years old, I was nearly bitten by a big brown dog. It all started when we went to Baguio for a vacation. It was summer that time when this frightening experience happened to me. We have a neighbor who had a dog which served as their guard dog. One sunny afternoon, my playmates and I were playing “tag” in front of our house. We were very noisy that the dog was irritated and started barking loudly at us. We did not mind the dog because we thought it was tied, which was really not the case. Suddenly I was confused when I saw my playmates running away. Then I saw the dog running towards me. I was so afraid that I ran as fast as I could. When I took a backward glance to see if the dog was near me, I saw the owner was there just in time to stop the when it was about to bite me. Because I was not looking to where I was going I tripped on a stone, stumbled down, and scratched my face against the rough and hot road. I was really hurt that I cried loudly and I even tasted my tears.
That frightening experience made me really afraid of dogs. But at least I have learned a lesson from that experience – that I must always make sure of my facts first before I give conclusions.
